Publication of The Dovenschmidt Quarterly ceased in 2016.

The last few decades witnessed a range of corporate scandals, some triggered by the ambiguous role of accountants (Enron), others by a lack of managerial accountability (Ahold), and still others by too-close relationships with regulators (Volkswagen). Extractive companies are heavily criticized after oil spills and other environmental harms (BP in the Gulf of Mexico, Rio Tinto in Papua New Guinea) and disregard for corporate governance and human rights. Forced by public opinion, corporations have been compelled to rethink the sustainability of their global strategy and their relations with their constituencies. Whether issues are found in the financial sector, accounting, extractive industries, consultancies, retailing or logistics, these developments call for a thorough analysis and rethinking of corporate structures in order to create a more socially responsible approach to business.

By providing a platform for multi-disciplinary research and perspectives of corporate social responsibility and its various stakeholders, financial institutions, regulatory authorities and corporate actors, DQ will contribute to a new mindset for all parties involved in the activities of the business as a whole, thus paving the way for the implementation of policies pertaining to corporate social responsibility.
